"Be the change you want to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi
It all started when five friends at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani decided to put this quote to action. With two other like- minded individuals, we started our journey with an aim to bring the energy and dynamism of youth to development of villages.
Initially we started with funding from Goldman Sachs Social Entrepreneurship Fund and are now supported by many philanthropic individuals and organizations. We have also expanded our membership base.
We currently run projects in four areas: Education, Agriculture, Information and Communication Technology for development and Social Security . We work in 3 locations in 2 states.
Our working philosophy, of treating people/communities we serve as equal partners in progress and not as beneficiaries, ensures that our projects are well oriented with the needs of the people and have strong receiving mechanisms. We aim to maximize the social value of every rupee we spend through effective utilization of resources.
The impact we are creating is our daily dose of motivation! We are constantly working to make all our projects sustainable - ecologically and financially. For every bit of infrastructure we create, we look for leveraging it to the maximum possible extent by providing a range of services to the communities we serve.
We rely on volunteers - young and old - to drive our work. While we have full-time paid employees who are youth from the villages we are working in, no member of the Foundation draws any kind of remuneration from it.
Parivartan Foundation for Socio Economic Development was founded on 26th March 2009 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 at Ranchi, Jharkhand.
